One should only eat candy in moderation, but sometimes you can afford to relax. Moreover, if you have a shortage of sugar in your body, you should pay your attention to a new trend: deserts with candy floss – extreme shake from cotton candy.
Of course, you could see them on Instagram or on YouTube. More recently these deserts have appeared in main menu of the restaurant chain of TJI Fridays. It is an important signal for me because it is very big fast-food chain. There were 992 in 2011. There are only 22 Fridays’ in Russia.
What is extreme shake?
A shake is prepared from ordinary ingredients (milkshake + sweet sauce), and “the Towers of Pisa” from our favorite candy (doughnuts, waffles cones, biscuits, and rainbow sprinkles) are erected under them. It is delicious but too sweet.
Let us review the components: shake milk with sweet syrup (in this case with chocolate syrup). The outer edge of the glass is covered with a soft white paste and rainbow sprinkles. Then you can put a scoop of ice cream, sweet doughnut, Oreo cookies inside, put some honey over, stick waffle cone, and put some cotton candy in the waffle cone.
There are next variants on the restaurant chain of TGI Fridays are pop-corn with honey and chocolate ice cream; mango with marmalade and orange sorbet; banana with marshmallow and strawberry ice cream; chocolate biscuit, doughnuts and cotton candy.

“Last row tickets extreme shake” – it is a mix chocolate ice cream and vanilla one with honey and caramel sauce; it is decorated with popcorn, waffle cone, and a doughnut.
For “Night munchies extreme shake” bartenders mix orange sorbet and vanilla ice cream, add some mango puree and cacao, and then add colored marmalade teddies and chocolate dragee or sugar doughnuts and whipped cream for decoration. “Night munchies” is prepared from blueberry, banana, strawberry ice cream and chocolate sauce. In addition, there are cookie Oreo, whipped cream and two doughnuts with marshmallow.
Oreo Addicts will appreciate shake “Crazy cookies”. It has chocolate ice cream, cookies, sauce. In addition, honey, a piece of chocolate, doughnut and whipped cream.
The most colorful mix is “Blind’s dream”. It is a pistachio ice cream with syrup “Tarragon”, two doughnuts, waffle cone, and cotton candy.
Extreme shakes – the future of the market
These desserts are not news for me. When I first saw them, I was in Dubai in the café Creamery, which belongs to my friend Patricia (now she is running JellyBelly caffee in UAE). I bought a couple of ones for my girlfriend and me.
The technology of making them is entertaining. To be honest, to watch it is more interesting than to eat it. It should be eaten quickly because the ice cream and cotton candy are melting, but it is so difficult to eat a lot of candy.
